Girl Asleep is a funny, surreal and heartfelt coming-of-age story about Greta Driscoll, a socially awkward teenager on the brink of turning fifteen. On the night of her birthday party, Greta is overwhelmed by the pressures of growing up, fitting in, and pleasing others. As she falls asleep, the boundaries between reality and imagination dissolve.

What follows is a dreamlike journey through Greta’s subconscious, where her anxieties, fears, memories and desires are transformed into heightened, sometimes absurd encounters. Adults become monsters, classmates become threats, and inanimate objects take on meaning. Through this surreal landscape, Greta confronts what it truly means to grow up—and discovers that bravery doesn’t mean becoming someone else, but learning to accept who you already are.

The play balances sharp humour with emotional depth, capturing both the awkwardness and intensity of adolescence.
