Heavy metal isn’t always the first thing that comes to mind when you’re in a country town, surrounded by picturesque views of bushland, beaches, pastures, and wildlife. But Tarwin Lower is no stranger to the alternative side of music, having been the home of Unify Festival for almost a decade before its demise.
South Coast FM, the local radio station for South Gippsland, Bass Coast and beyond, are pleased to be working with the Riverview Hotel, with their state-of-the-art band room and production, to bring heavy music back to the area and connect the heavy metal community, with the support of their radio presenter, Sarah-Tonin of Sin and Steel.
For Heavy Hitters, we’re showcasing a great mix of heavy bands from around Victoria, including:
Lost Atlas – A fantastic local band that are known for putting the work in to bringing music to our community and youth, including running the live music at the 2025 Phillip Island Christmas Toy Run. Their music is quite diverse, capturing a range of punk, alternative and metal styles indicative of the bands influence and background.
Seventh Circle – Fresh from supporting Munt and Nembutolik on their East Coast tour, you can expect high energy showmanship from Seventh Circle, with high kicks and hardcore influences, and what has been described as ‘double the front-men’ given the exceptional performances of both their vocalist, and guitarist, known also for his work in Primitive.
Circle of Blood – Taking influence from both Swedish and Floridian styles, Circle of Blood is made up of veterans of Melbourne’s metal and hardcore scenes, bringing the brutality, with relentless death metal that will absolutely melt your face off. Having recently released their first full length album, ‘In Praise of Darkness’ through Grindhead Records, 2026 is a big year for the band, smashing a run of launch shows and supporting Warbringer at Brutefest before they join us here in Tarwin.
