Following on from the success of the Beginner Photoshop course, this Intermediate session is designed to build confidence and take your editing skills to the next level.

While we’ll start with a short refresher on key concepts from the beginner course, the focus will quickly shift to expanding your understanding of Photoshop’s adjustment tools and how to apply them with greater control and precision.

This course is ideal for those who are comfortable with the basics and are ready to move beyond global edits, learning how to shape light, colour and detail in a more targeted and creative way.

Course Outline

Refresher (Beginner Foundations)

• Quick recap of Adobe Camera Raw workflow
• Overview of commonly used tools in Photoshop
• Revisiting masks and simple adjustments

Working with Adjustments

• Understanding different types of adjustment layers
• When and why to use specific adjustments
• Building a non-destructive editing workflow

Masking Techniques

• Creating and refining masks
• Applying adjustments selectively to specific areas of an image
• Improving control over light, colour and contrast

Advanced Masking Introduction

• Introduction to luminosity masks
• Using tonal ranges to target precise areas of an image
• Practical examples and use cases

Timothy will be using the latest version of Photoshop throughout the session. You’re welcome to follow along using an older version, just be aware that some tools or processes may look a little different. If you haven’t committed to Photoshop yet, please download a trial version shortly before the workshop so you can participate fully.

What you’ll need:

• Your own laptop (required)

• Basic knowledge of how to use a computer

• Photoshop installed

• Camera Raw installed

• Course assets will be shared one week prior to the workshop.  Attendees are required to download these assets before the course
