Traditional Mosaics (SOLD OUT)
This workshop takes place over two Saturday Mornings. You need only book in for the first Saturday and you will be registered for both days.
In this workshop you will be introduced to the history, tools and materials used in traditional mosaics and will create a small mosaic piece, giving you the skills and information to then complete your own mosaic artwork. No prior knowledge is required, and all tools and materials are included.
This workshop introduces participants to the earliest forms of Mosaics which originated in ancient times. The techniques and designs of the Roman and Byzantine mosaicists, like Andamento, will be explored and students will complete their own mosaic using cinca tesserae.
Tutor, Barb Tamassy, is a member of the Emu Park Art Gallery and has been teaching mosaics on the Capricorn Coast for more than 20 years. In 2013 she completed a course in Traditional Mosaics in Ravenna, Italy, with Italian Mosaicist, Maria Notturni.
