About
LandDownUnder - Live in Concert at Lucky 13 over the Kings Birthday Long WeekendSunday June 7 with a recovery day on the Monday!!!
LandDownUnder: The Australian Music Explosion Phenomenon.
There was an era when Australia didn't just make great music—we made the world's greatest music. For over twenty-five years, the 'Australian Music Explosion' was a global phenomenon that simply couldn't be stopped.
INXS were selling out stadiums across America and Europe. AC/DC’s Back in Black became one of the best-selling albums of all time. Midnight Oil put Indigenous Australia on the world stage, and John Farnham’s "You're The Voice" became the anthem for a generation. Kylie Minogue went from Neighbours to global pop royalty, while Men At Work made the whole planet sing about Vegemite sandwiches.
But the fire didn't go out in the 80s. The 90s gave us a second national anthem in Daryl Braithwaite’s "The Horses," and “Thunderstruck’ relaunched AC/DC and the momentum hasn’t stopped, the Divinyls took Aussie grit to the top of the US charts. By the 2000s, Jet and The Veronicas were proving that the Australian engine was still running at full throttle, conquering the globe with Top 5 hits.
It had never happened before. And it hasn’t happened since. What an era and LandDownUnder is coming to Lucky 13 on Sunday June 7, and we are bringing every single one of those songs and more, back to life.
The Architects of the Explosion -
This isn’t a pub band running through the motions. This is a full-scale live show built to honour the era that made us proud to be Australian, performed by the musicians who were actually in the room when history was being written.
• Scott Griffiths (Keys/Guitar/Vocals): The man who played the iconic, soaring piano on the original recording of Daryl Braithwaite’s "The Horses." His touch is embedded in the DNA of Australian music.
• Geoff Wells (Lead Guitar): The "Tone King" who spent two decades as Daryl Braithwaite’s right-hand man, toured the world’s stadiums with Tina Arena (including Wembley Stadium), and was a staple in John Farnham’s band in the 90’s.
• Peter Robertson (Drums): A powerhouse with a rock pedigree stretching from the 80s with Geisha to the legendary Spectrum.
• Gaz Brown & Pete Newson (Vocals/Bass): The high-energy engine room from Mid Life Crisis and Disturbing The Peace, bringing the raw, pub-honed grit that defined our live scene.
• Bernadetta Griffiths (Vocals/Flute/Sax): Adding the soul and sophistication needed to tackle everything from The Veronicas' synth-pop to the haunting instrumental lines of the 80s and 90s.
This is more than a concert; it’s a masterclass in the songs that defined us.
One night. Every banger.
What an era to celebrate – ‘LandDownUnder – When Australian Music Took On The World’
