Boys: AFLNT Middle School Challenge 2026

MacKillop Catholic College is excited to be participating in this years AFLNT Middle School Challenge! The AFLNT Middle School Challenge is an Australian rules football competition for schools in the Top End. The competition offers youth players a chance to develop their skills during the NTFL off-season while encouraging school attendance.Details: The intermediate boys and girls AFL competitions are open to students in Years 7, 8 and 9. This challenge occurs afterschool hours from 3-5pm for weeks 2-7 in Term 2 (and possibly weeks 8 and 9 if teams make the finals). The boy’s competition will run on Wednesdays and the girls on Thursdays. Mr Ben Power is excited to lead the boy’s team as coach, while Mr Joe Sellwood and Mrs Jane Marshall will co-coach the girls, bringing energy and enthusiasm to the team. Students will participate in a weekly competition consisting of 4 x 12-minute quarters. Boys will play 18 on the field with 4 subs max (size 5 ball) and girls will play 16 on field with 4 subs max (size 4 ball). It is estimated that games will run from 3:30-4:30pm.
Overview: Students will be required to assemble at the undercover area outside the college Inclusion Support Office (bottom of C block), at the end of period 5 on match days to catch the bus to the event each week at 3pm sharp. The events will run from 3:30-4:30pm. Students will be returning to school at 4:45pm for rounds in Palmerston and 5pm for events at Berrimah, Humpty Doo and Nightcliff. Once students have arrived back at the college they will be dismissed. It is essential that families arrange for their child’s own transport home from the college. If you wish for your child to be collected or dismissed from the event location this must be communicated with teacher in charge of the event prior to the child being dismissed (see contact details on the next page. There is a $25 cost for the tickets which will cover transport to and from each event.
Requirements: Students are required to wear their full PE uniform and bring their own afternoon snack, drink bottle, PPE (including mouthguard and sunscreen). Football boots are not essential but recommended.
