Join us for a full day of immersive, practical learning designed for experienced and emerging choral conductors looking to refine their craft in a focused, supportive environment.We are delighted to welcome Brett Weymark OAM (Artistic Director of the Sydney Philharmonia Choirs) as our guest clinician for the day.
Drawing on his extensive experience preparing choirs for performances at the Sydney Opera House and working with leading international conductors, Brett will guide participants through key aspects of advanced choral conducting, including:
- Effective and engaging choir warm-ups
- Approaches to studying and preparing a score
- Developing clear, expressive gestures that shape and propel musical line
- Working with standard symphonic chorus repertoire
This workshop is particularly suited to conductors interested in expanding their work with large-scale choral repertoire.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in both podium and non-podium time, with podium opportunities for six selected participants. Observers will have the opportunity to sing with Sydney Philharmonia Choirs in the afternoon session.

Whether you’re looking to deepen your rehearsal techniques, refine your gesture, or gain hands-on experience with core choral repertoire, this is a unique opportunity to learn from one of Australia’s leading choral conductors.
Due to limited availability, podium time places are capped. If applications exceed capacity, submissions will be reviewed to ensure a balanced and rewarding experience for all participants. Applicants who are not allocated podium time will be offered an observer place, and any difference in registration cost will be refunded.
