Join Variable Media Conservator Chris Redman and colleagues for a dedicated tour of the Powerhouse’s Variable Media Lab and the new Building J (the Powerhouse’s latest conservation and storage facility). Chris will discuss his preservation workflows, digitisation techniques, and the tools used at the Powerhouse to support these processes.This tour offers participants a rare glimpse into the evolving practices of variable media conservation at the Powerhouse, as well as an opportunity to engage directly with preservation specialists.
Chris Redman is the Variable Media Conservator at the Powerhouse Museum, where he leads the preservation and digitisation of time-based and digital media collections. He oversees the Variable Media Digitisation Studio, manages large-scale projects, and advises on complex media care, contributing to preservation standards, digital infrastructure, and improved access to variable media collections.
