Not a Book Club — with Bernice Barry
About
Low commitment. High reward. Totally not a Book Club…
The City of Perth Library’s Not a Book Club is an author in-conversation series for readers who love stories, ideas, and conversation—without the homework.
Hosted by the indefatigable Will Yeoman, this new series brings a mix of Western Australian favourites and touring authors for exclusive in-conversation events throughout 2026. With a blend of free and ticketed sessions, there’s something for everyone.
Our next event features writer and historian Bernice Barry discussing her new book, The Names of a Hare. Set in Cornwall in 1628, a young girl guards a dangerous secret: she can leave her body and fly. Steeped in herbal lore and forbidden spells, the girl becomes a woman as whispers of witchcraft across the land turn deadly. When witchfinder Matthew Hopkins sets out to hunt her down, their meeting will change the course of history.
Light refreshments provided. Books will be available for purchase and signing on the night.
