About
Creative social is a semi-facilitated space for circus artists to explore, collaborate, and create together.We'll begin with a guided creative warm-up and a few exercises led by our flight crew then the space opens up. This is your time to move, research, play, and connect with other artists.
This isn't a technique class. It's a space for movement research, deepening your relationship with apparatus, and building creative community, connection and collaboration.
Following the Creative Social we will be hosting a circus roundtable event to discuss opportunities to contribute to the creative policy discourse in NSW and Australia and advocate for better opportunity for NSW based circus artists.
Who is this for?
This event is open to anyone who can train independently and keep themselves safe in their chosen discipline. You should have a solid level of proficiency with your apparatus, enough to self-direct your practice and safely explore beyond replicating taught technique.
We ask that all artists attending come with openness to engage in new methods and processes of creation, an interest in refining their creative voice, and a desire to be active members of a creative community.
Contributing to a safe creative space is a condition of participation at all Flight Risk events.
Behavior that compromises the physical, emotional, or creative safety of any participants will not be tolerated.
Bringing your own apparatus?
Personal equipment may be subject to a safety check. For aerialists this may include an inspection by our on-site rigger before it goes up in the air. We reserve the right to refuse to rig your equipment if there are safety concerns. Should this occur, you will be welcome to utilize the studio equipment.
Cost: $20
This covers a $15 point booking fee, plus a $5 contribution to the Flight Risk community fund. This fund will be utilised to support artists and projects in our local circus community.
For artists who are unable or do not wish to contribute to the flight risk community fund, we offer $15 tickets that cover the cost of point hire only.
