Queen Bees & Wannabes is a Musical Theatre Showcase presented by the Queensland College of Dance, featuring our Musical Theatre cohort.
Set in the world of school corridors, friendship groups, rumours, loyalties, and shifting alliances, this production follows the ups and downs of the teenage years—where everything feels heightened, and nothing stays the same for long. From the exhilaration of first friendships to the sting of rivalry, the cast navigates the complexities of the teenage experience with honesty, humour, and heart.
Through a selection of contemporary and classic musical theatre repertoire, the students step into characters right in the middle of it all—figuring themselves out, navigating friendships, falling in and out of groups, and trying to make sense of where they fit. There are moments of humour, awkwardness, tension, and honesty, mirroring the fast-moving, often unpredictable world of growing up.
Queen Bees & Wannabes is a look at those teenage moments that stay with us—who we connect with, who we drift away from, the pressures we feel to fit in, the choices we make to belong, and how we start to figure out who we are along the way.
