About
The Burnanga Festival – Voices of Country is a free, community-led cultural event celebrating water, Country, and community on Yorta Yorta Country at Victoria Park Lake.Held as part of the Biyala Woka Project, the festival brings together Aboriginal community members, families, and the wider public to share stories, culture, and knowledge connected to rivers and environmental water.
The event will feature:
Welcome to Country by a Yorta Yorta Elder
Cultural dance performances and live music
A community fishing activity
Cultural storytelling and a night-time parade
Screening of the Biame Creation Story and Biyala Woka “River Voices” documentary
Art displays, community stalls, and activities for children and families
Opportunities to learn about water, Country, and cultural values from local organisations
This is a family-friendly, alcohol-free event designed to create a safe and welcoming space for community connection, learning, and celebration.
