About

Paving the Way by Dr Samantha Battams traces pioneer ancestors from England, Ireland, Prussia and Bavaria to South Australia and New Zealand. Inspired by a search for her own origins, the book explores stories of migration, faith and resilience, from Prussian Lutherans and Irish miners to Barossa Valley winemakers, while shedding light on colonial life, women’s experiences and settlement legacies.
