10,000 Steps Challenge

This challenge encourages you to walk 10,000 steps a day over the month of September. Research has shown that walking 7,000 steps a day compared to 2000 steps can reduce the risk of all-cause mortality by 47%, dementia by 38%, cancer mortality by 37%, falls by 28%, cardiovascular disease by 25%, depression by 22% and type 2 diabetes by 14%. And if you can increase the number of steps to 10,000 a day it will produce an extra 8 per cent risk reduction (ABC Health Report, July 2025). So you have every reason to get out there and start walking! In addition, there will be prizes for this challenge including $300, $200 and $100 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places plus mini hampers. There will also be several highly commended prizes.
You can walk solo, with a friend or create a team to motivate each other. You can start with a small goal and work up the challenge. Be creative to increase the number of your steps. Every step counts. Together, we are walking for better physical health and wellbeing!
Once you have registered, we will contact you through WhatsApp messaging to collect your weekly steps record. You can record your steps using your smart watch/Fitbit or the health app on your iPhone.
