Helen Ryder ‘Love Over Hate’ Album Show
About
Helen’s new album ‘Love Over Hate’ is a classy collection of sophisticated pop exquisitely played...languid but joyous, though deliciously dark at times. A follow up to her lauded 2015 debut album ‘Someday Love’, this new LP showcases songs rich in storytelling both personal and political and is the album Helen has always longed to make. Co-produced with Aria award winning Bruce Haymes, ‘Love Over Hate’ features Haymes on piano, Wurlitzer and organ, Shane Reilly on guitars, pedal steel and string arrangements, Stephen Hadley on bass and Roger Bergodaz on drums.Joining Helen for this album tour show is Bruce Haymes (Paul Kelly) on keyboards, Stephen Hadley (Tex Perkins) on bass and Chris Tabone (The Badloves) on drums.
Special opening guest is a solo outing from bass player Catherine McQuade with her exotic blend of 60’s influenced, cool jazz infused, neo noir songs and sonic explorations.
“Ryder has got her own thing going on. Her breathy vocal is a thing of beauty. This is an album to fall in love to.” Jeff Jenkins - Rhythms Magazine
“Lush adult pop that leans into its orchestrations, reverberates with a bluesy soul, and occasionally has a touch of the child-of-Laura Nyro.” Bernard Zuel - bernardzuel.net
