Digital Wellbeing Workshop
Date: Monday 11 May
Time: 6.00 pm - 7.00 pm
Venue: Hazel Day Drama Centre
Parents and guardians of students in Years 6 to 10 are invited to attend the Digital Wellbeing Workshop facilitated by Paris McNeil, a lawyer and online safety educator who has worked with thousands of students, parents, and schools across Australia.
Social media, gaming and screen time are some of the biggest challenges families are navigating right now. While the under-16 social media ban has changed the landscape, many young people are still finding ways to access platforms, leaving parents unsure what to do next.
This practical session is designed to give you clarity and control at home. You’ll understand what the social media ban actually means for your family, but more importantly, how to respond.
You’ll walk away with clear, practical strategies to:
-
set and enforce boundaries around devices and screen time
-
support your child to build healthier tech habits
-
have more effective conversations about social media, gaming and online behaviour; and
-
respond to new tech challenges like exposure to harmful content, misinformation and AI chatbots.
Rather than trying to eliminate every risk, this session focuses on equipping you with the tools to guide your child to make safer, more responsible decisions online.
Paris McNeil is an online safety educator and has worked with thousands of students and parents across Australia to build the skills to handle the social media ban and stay safe online. Paris has a legal background, but most importantly, is a Gen Z and grew up with technology so she understands what students are facing. Paris bridges the gap, resonating with students and providing support to parents to help their kids to navigate the online world.
