Speaker: Professor Morag YoungTitle: KEEPING TIME IN THE HEART
Think circadian rhythms are all about travel and shift work? Think again. Understanding the impact of circadian rhythms is vital to the treatment of cardiovascular disease, as this talk will explore.
Professor Morag Young is a leading expert on hormones in cardiovascular disease, focusing on mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) pathophysiology. She leads the Cardiovascular Endocrinology Laboratory at the Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute and supervises students across multiple universities. Her research uncovers novel MR mechanisms, advancing drug discovery and biomarker development. Professor Young is currently Chief Investigator on NHMRC and ARC grants and Co-Chief Investigator on the NHMRC-funded PACE program, she also serves as Deputy Editor for key endocrinology journals. Passionate about gender equity in science, she co-chairs the Baker Institute’s Gender Equity and Diversity Committee and promotes STEM careers for women, including outreach to rural communities.
