Song and His Friends: Inaugural Concert (I) 17th, July, 2026
About
Song and His Friends is a new Sydney-based concert series presenting intimate live performances by a younger generation of musicians in small studio settings. This inaugural concert features Helen Kim (flute) and Annie Yueming Wang (piano) in a flute and piano recital at Church Street Studios, Camperdown.
The programme brings together established flute repertoire and contemporary music, spanning the Classical period, Romantic virtuosity, French modernism, and a new work by Sydney-based composer Yurun Song.
The concert includes works by Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy, Saverio Mercadante, and Yurun Song.
This performance is the first of two July concerts presenting the same programme in different parts of Sydney. By placing the same repertoire in distinct local spaces, the series explores how musical experience is shaped by venue, community, and listening context.
Set in an intimate studio environment with limited seating, the concert offers a focused acoustic listening experience, bringing performers and audience into close connection.
