Harmonica Workshop & Networking - For Players of All Levels
About
Two harmonica workshops, networking and open jam to end the day!Join us for an immersive harmonica workshop and networking event designed to deepen your playing, knowledge, and community connections. Whether your a beginner or an advanced player this day promises to offer something to improve your understanding of the old "tin-sandwich" and meet other passionate harmonica players.
Do you want to learn how to get a consistent and strong "tone" from your harmonica playing? Matthew "Whalebone" White will teach fundemental skills needed to get the best sound from your instrument. We will also look at using positions and rhythmic playing to perform a variety of folk, blues and country blues songs.
Next Aaron Gillett, the owner of 'Blind Owl Harmonicas', will share his expertise and guidance as a professional harmonica player and harmonica technician. In this workshop you will earn practical ways to clean and maintain your instrument: learn how to keep your harmonica in peak condition and extend its life significantly!
You'll also get a rare opportunity to look at and admire harmonica microphones and amplifiers crafted right here in Melbourne by local specialist technicians Lazy Lancester and Roger Nelson from 'Kingtone Microphones' who will have their own Australian-made harmonica amps and microphones — a chance to see and learn about the gear behind the sound of the great players.
Throughout the day, connect and swap stories with fellow harmonica enthusiasts from across the region. Whether you're a seasoned player or just starting out, the community you'll find here is warm, welcoming, and endlessly passionate.
The workshop wraps up with a jam session — the perfect chance to put your new skills to work. Pre-registration is required to secure your spot.
