Interfake and Interfaith: The Challenges of Interfaith Interactions in a Post October 7 World
With Rabbi Ralph Genende OAM
Ralph Genende is a prominent South African–born Australian rabbi, community leader, and interfaith advocate. He has played a significant role in Jewish communal life in Australia, serving for many years as Senior Rabbi of Caulfield Hebrew Congregation. He has also served as College Rabbi at Mount Scopus College and Rabbi of Beit Aharon congregation. He was the General Manager of Jewish Life at Jewish Care and stepped down at the beginning of this year to take on a full time position with AIJAC as Interfaith & Community Liaison. He is also the Rabbi of Kehilat Kesher, a pop-up community.
Known for his thoughtful leadership and engaging public voice, Genende has been active in promoting dialogue between different faiths and cultures. Beyond the synagogue, he has contributed to broader society through his involvement with organisations such as the Vic Multifaith Advisory Group and ADF Religious Advisory Committee.
With 30 years of experience in the interfaith field, Rabbi Ralph Genende will present and lead two sessions on the purpose and challenges of interfaith engagement after October 7 and post Bondi. He will share some of the highlights and anecdotes of his journey.
