SWANA Ball
About
SWANA (South West Asian, North African) Ball 2026 is a celebration of culture and tradition, bringing together people of Arab and North African descent in hopes of cultivating a vibrant display of the heritage we come from. Designed to be the social event of the year, we aim to showcase the diverse traditions that connect our communities, while also welcoming and celebrating people of colour from across backgrounds who contribute meaningfully to the richness and inclusivity of this space. The evening will feature a dabke performance, music curated by an Arab DJ, dancing, a Photo Booth, and a selection of food that reflects the distinct yet interconnected cultural ties across the SWANA region.
A central aspect of the event is cultural expression. All attendees are strongly encouraged to wear traditional clothing from their respective culture or country of origin, as a way of honouring heritage and showcasing its beauty, but if you don't have any, we can settle for your Sunday best.
More than a formal event, SWANA Ball seeks to create an environment that fosters belonging through shared cultural appreciation, bridging the distance often felt in the diaspora. It is an opportunity for students and attendees to experience the richness of our collective backgrounds, celebrate the end of the academic year, and create lasting memories with friends and the wider community.
