About the artists...
Aurelia Flores is a saxophonist from Sydney, currently studying jazz performance at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. Playing in rock, jazz, spoken word, fusion and experimental situations around Sydney, they are inspired by a range of tenor players including Hank Mobley, Steve Grossman and Emma Rawicz, as well as the local jazz/improvised music scene.
Charlie Murphy (she/her) is a jazz musician from Sydney. She is currently studying at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. When playing keys, she can be found regularly at different jams across Sydney. Charlie is most inspired by the Great American Songbook, classic swing, and vocal jazz from greats like Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone, creating lyrical lines on the piano. She has recently performed in 'Celia' – a piece commissioned for the Opera House for their 'Art on the Steps' program, which featured seven vocalists-improvisers creating an a cappella soundscape under the Monumental Steps.
