Why this training matters
An understanding and respect for cultural heritage will enhance your experience working in the forest. By developing an ability to identify artefacts or areas of cultural significance you will be better equipped to plan operations that avoid disturbance. As FPC staff are often working in areas that are rarely accessed, you may even identify new sites that can be added to registers.
This training will help you to:
• Recognise cultural heritage sites and understand their significance
• Know what your responsibilities are when working in the field
• Respond appropriately if potential heritage is identified or disturbed
• Understand the legislation and due diligence requirements that apply to our work
• Confidently communicate expectations with contractors and others on site
What to expect
• Interactive, practical sessions using real examples from our work environment
• Delivered by experienced Aboriginal cultural heritage specialists
• Designed to be relevant to your role, particularly for operational staff and managers
• Sessions will run for approximately 4 and a half hours
• Lunch will be provided, provide P and C with dietary requirements
