Winter Series 2026 - Monash Musique: French music and dance
About
Welcome to Monash Council's Winter Series 2026!
Celebrate Bastille Day week with Monash Musique—a vibrant evening of French music, dance and culture that transports audiences from Parisian jazz clubs to regional dance halls.
La Mauvaise Réputation
French jazz & swing virtuosos La Mauvaise Réputation are Australia’s most authentic interpreters of the wild rhythms and passion of 1930s Parisian hot jazz and the beautiful melodies of classic French chanson - sung en français bien sûr.
Join them for an exciting tour of the rich tradition of 20th century French popular music from 1930s Parisian dancehalls, to the iconic anthems of Piaf, Montand and Trenet, to the 1960s provocations of enfant terrible Serge Gainsbourg and beyond.
Parisian Can Can Dancers
The Parisian Can Can Dancers bring the sparkle and energy of 1920s Montmartre to life. Expect high kicks, bold costumes and vintage Parisian flair as they present a dazzling Can Can and showgirl performance, plus a pre show meet and greet.
Balfolk French Dance Workshop
Melbourne Balfolk is a community dance group born from a deep love of folk dancing. We want to bring French and European dances to the people of Melbourne, and get more people on the dance floor.
Food & Drinks
There will be a stocked bar with drinks available to purchase on the night (please note NO BYO alcohol can be brought into the venue).
You can BYO a picnic or dinner (no glass) to enjoy at your table. Monash Musique will be a playful, immersive night filled with movement, music and French flair.
