TrailJam 2026
About
TrailJam is on Saturday 9th May. This is the third year that TrailJam has been running. It replaces Jamboree of the Trail (JOTT). This is a day where Scouts and Guides from across the world, hike at the same time. For the past 2 years, there have been over 11,500 participants from across 14 countries hiking.This year, we will be heading out to Wenhams Campground in the Warby Ranges. We will set up a gazebo and BBQ, aim to have a fire going; there are fire pits, toilets and ample parking there.

Cost: $10 per youth participant, includes a TrailJam blanket badge, and sausage sizzle with soup (tomato and cream of chicken).

Winding through the granite hills of the Warby Ranges, this moderate loop offers a fantastic introduction to the unique"box-ironbark country of north-east Victoria. The track begins and ends at Wenhams Camp, immersing you in a landscape defined by craggy boulders, open woodlands, and the striking silhouettes of ancient grass trees. While the Friends Track itself is a scenic forest wander, the absolute highlight is the diversion to Kwat Kwat Lookout. To reach it, you will need to take the marked side-track (Peregrine Track), which adds about one kilometre to your journey but rewards you with exceptional panoramic views over the Ovens Valley and the Victorian Alps. It is named in honour of the Kwat Kwat people, the Traditional Owners of this land, and on a clear day, the vista is simply unbeatable. Spring is the magic season here, when the dry earth erupts in colour. Keep an eye out for delicate orchids, chocolate lilies, and golden wattles lining the path. Birdlife is also abundant; you might spot the rare Turquoise Parrot flashing through the trees or hear the call of a Speckled Warbler. Wenhams Camp provides excellent facilities, including toilets and wood-fired BBQs, making it a perfect spot to relax after your walk

The walk starts at Wenhams Camp and loops out to the lookout, which has stunning views of the region, before looping back around to the starting point with an off-trail section. Lots of wildlife to enjoy along the way plus in September the area is filled with wildflowers. There is a shorter option from the same trailhead that avoids the off-trail section.
Note: Youth MUST be accompanied by a Leader Adult Contributors and Supporters are welcome to attend.
