In the glitzy transition from silent film to “talkies,” Hollywood’s favourite leading man, Don Lockwood, finds his career in jeopardy when his latest movie—and his screechy-voiced co-star, Lina Lamont—fails to impress the modern audience. With the help of his comedic sidekick, Cosmo Brown, and an aspiring young actress named Kathy Selden, Don hatches a plan to save the studio by turning their latest flop into a musical and secretly dubbing Kathy’s voice over Lina’s. Despite Lina’s jealous attempts to sabotage the production and trap Kathy in the shadows, a dramatic reveal at the film’s premiere unmasks the true talent, finally bringing Kathy into the spotlight and proving that Don and Kathy are the real stars of the show.Dates
