Triveni Sangam
About
- Triveni Sangam -First the first time in Brisbane, we present an elaborative musical concert in its purest and most traditional forms - singing, dancing and instrumentation. This musical features iconic Bollywood songs based on Classical Ragas, performed by Brisbane's very own singers: Anvi Vaidya, Hari Vijayaraghavan and Binny Jaradi. The evening then takes a turn as we celebrate the Indian classical dance form known as 'Kathak', performed by Neelophar Ahmed and her group. The entire musical will be held together using two of the most traditional Indian instruments - Tabla, performed by Shri Paramjeet Singh and Sarangi, by a true maestro of Indian Classical music, Pandit Sangeet Mishra.
- An Introduction to Sangeet Mishra -
Being a disciple of the legendary Mishra family of Banaras, Pt. Sangeet Mishra learned sarangi from his maternal grandfather, the world renowned sarangi player Pt. Bhagwan Das Mishra, and his father, Pt. Santosh mishra. Thus, he carries forward a rich musical lineage that has preserved the soulful art of sarangi for eight generations. Sangeet ji has also enhanced numerous bollywood compositions with his sarangi, including the song 'Saiyaan Hato Jaao' from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's album 'Heeramandi'.
Sarangi is an ancient Indian stringed instrument and is known to sound more like the human voice more than any other instrument, and when Sangeet ji plays, you can truly feel every emotion come alive.
We invite everyone to join us on 20th of June to experience the this rich musical tradition in person.
