Melbourne Firearms Forum - Monday May 18th
About
Join us for an important community forum where you'll hear directly from Senator Bridget McKenzie on the federal landscape and what changes are being driven at a national level, special guest, Tom Kenyon, CEO of the Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia, as well as the Nationals Member for Eastern Victoria and Shadow Minister for Outdoor Recreation, Melina Bath on what Victoria's team is doing to fight for your rights. Together, they are committed to ensuring the Labor Government does not infringe on the rights of law-abiding firearm owners. The Victorian Government has announced a review of Victoria's firearm laws, to be conducted by former Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Ken Lay AO APM. Victoria already has some of the strictest firearm laws in the nation, and serious incidents have consistently involved failures in intelligence, monitoring or enforcement — not gaps in legislation. Rushed or ideologically driven changes risk unfairly penalising the state's 207,000 law-abiding firearm owners, along with small businesses, farmers, sporting shooters and hunting organisations who depend on sensible, workable laws.
The Nationals believe any review must be evidence-led, not politically motivated. Firearm owners deserve a genuine seat at the table — not token consultation after decisions have already been made behind closed doors.
Come along, ask questions, and stand alongside your local representatives who are fighting to protect your rights.
All firearm owners, farmers, sporting shooters and concerned community members are welcome.
