This year Barker College has invited four Drama Alumni to direct Year 10 students in two short plays: Shack and The Real Inspector Hound. Shack, set in Antarctica during a blizzard. Nine school kids are stranded in a shack, on the bottom of the world, with a sinister force circling outside… The young explorers question their place in the natural and social order of the world as the limits of their courage are pushed into uncharted waters. The Real Inspector Hound follows two theatre critics named Moon and Birdboot who are watching a ludicrous country house murder mystery, in the style of a whodunit. This artistic experiment honours Barker’s tradition of fostering young talent and highlights the school’s commitment to challenging drama, showcasing our performers’ creativity and depth while reinforcing Barker’s legacy of artistic excellence.
