When Lightning Strikes, Every Minute Counts
National Bushfire Ignition-Intelligence Requirements Workshop
Australia lacks a proven capability to detect lightning ignitions within the narrow window during which a new fire can still be suppressed. This workshop brings operational, industry and scientific expertise together to define what any effective solution must demonstrate in practice — and to inform both the broader national effort and the work of the ECU-led IGNIS program, which already has a pilot network operating in the WA Wheatbelt.
This is a rare opportunity to influence requirements that will underpin future systems, decision‑making and national capability.
Facilitated by Professor Russell Boyce, former Director, UNSW Canberra Space — a sovereign deep-technology leader with 38 years delivering complex programs that build industry, talent and national capability, and a trusted strategic advisor to government and senior industry leaders globally.
