🎼 About Eric Budd
Melbourne-based musician, educator, and multi-instrumentalist Eric Budd works across performance, recording, and music education.
Beginning on piano at age six before moving into trumpet and trombone, he now performs professionally across both brass and woodwind instruments, driven by a deep curiosity for sound, style, and musical expression.
His work spans orchestral and studio performance, live television, touring productions, and the contemporary jazz and commercial music scene. He has performed with artists including Zoltán Kiss, Marshall Gilkes, Michael Bublé, James Morrison, Hugh Jackman, and Tones and I, and has appeared in house bands for television programs such as Australia's Got Talent and The X Factor Australia.
Comfortable across a wide range of styles—classical, jazz, big band, Latin, funk, rock, soul, and various world music traditions—his work is grounded in musical integrity, adaptability, and attentive listening.
Alongside performing, Eric is deeply committed to music education. He works with students of all levels, focusing on strong foundations, musical independence, and building a genuine connection to the music they create.
A key part of his practice is a fascination with instruments—particularly those that are unusual, rare, or often overlooked. His collection reflects an ongoing exploration of sound, with each instrument offering its own voice, colour, personality, and perspective.
