BSSC presents Year 11 Ensemble 'The Rashomon Effect'.
About
The Rashomon effect describes how the same event can be described in conflicting and contradictory ways by different witnesses, highlighting the unreliability of eyewitness testimony and subjective interpretations of truth. The term originates from the 1950 Japanese film Rashomon, which presents four different accounts of a murder, with each version appearing plausible but fundamentally different. This effect underscores that memory is flawed, individual biases shape perception, and a single, objective truth can be difficult or impossible to determine.Students develop and present characters within a devised ensemble performance that goes beyond a representation of real life as it is lived.
