About
In this 1.5hour, small group class you will learn techniques to use throughout your labour & birth. They will include activities such as movement, positioning, massage, breathing and vocalisation, meditation and visualisation.This class is IN ADDITION to prior knowledge of labour and is suitable for birthing parents & support people who want to learn these techniques for their labour. It will require active participation throughout – including activities as mentioned. You will need to be able to move into positions such as sitting on balls, kneeling, side lying.
To attend this class, it is required that both birth parent & support person have either
A) Attended our Labour & Birth classes in a series, OR
B) Have read the pre-reading material which will be sent out via email, once you make a booking.
A support person is required to attend to assist birth parent throughout the class.
Suitable to attend FROM 32 weeks of pregnancy
This class is not suitable if
- You are having a planned caesarean section
- You do not wish to learn about these active birthing techniques
- You do not wish to actively participate in class to practice these techniques.
- You have been recommended by your midwife or Dr not to attend these classes due to pregnancy concerns
Ticket enables: 1 birthing parent + 1 support person (who will be present in labour) to attend.
Equipment such as mats & balls will be provided. Please ensure you dress in comfortable clothes & shoes which enable movement.
The session is ONSITE at MHW. Only for families booked to birth their baby at Mercy Hospital for Women, Heidelberg.
