Very happy to announce CARRUM DOWNS HOUSE CONCERTS first  Writers In The Round event for this year. We are often asked by guests to do more of these events where we have three artists alternating sharing their songs and story about the songs and for this event we have three exceptional artists joining us.    

KRIS MIZZI - Kris has appeared here twice before and is one of our most requested artists and since his last appearance here he has become one of this Country Music scenes most popular artists appearing at many Festivals around the country including earlier this year, his first time at Tamworth Country Music Festival, where he had a few events planned but as the word from patrons got around, Kris found himself appearing with many other well known artists in guest artist spots, (no surprise to any of us who have been fans of Kris for years) Kris will tell you he is a Folk singer, and he certainly is that, but he is much more than that. He is a consummate songwriter, his songs are true reflection of his, and fair to say, many others life experiences. He is an accomplished musician, his guitar playing matches the sensitivity of his lyrics and just draws his audience in. Kris has released many songs as single releases and on EP'S and his debut album release in 2019 'Some Other Morning' drew high acclaim and connected Kris with new audiences. More recently Kris has toured England and Ireland and it is no surprise that he now has a fan base in both countries. He has also journeyed to Nashville U.S, the heart of Country Music  where he not only shared his music with new audiences but signed a publishing deal with Nashvilles TEN TEN Publishing.  

GREG CHAMPION; For those of us who have been around for a while, Greg Champion will be a familiar name. As a prolific singer/songwriter Greg has been around the music and entertainment industries since 1980 as a solo artist , in bands and in the media on radio with the iconic sports panel ' Coodabeen Champions' which focused on Australian rules football with a comedic approach and with some appropriate original songs from Greg. The show ran on radio for 43 years on different stations, ending in 2024. Greg released albums of footy songs and he performed his song ' That's the Thing about Football' at the 1995 AFL grand final. But, Gregs first love in music is Folk music and he has performed alongside Kris Mizzi at a number of events. Greg has released over 30 Albums over the years spanning a wide variety of themes, folk, Country music, Christmas songs and sports parodies. Greg has toured Australia extensively performing at festivals including Tamworth. He has performed in U.S in Nashville and in New Zealand, France and Fiji. Gregs audiences are treated with great songs, great guitar playing and more than a bit of humour.                  

MISTY HARLOWE: - Misty is the ' newbe' to our line up and there are very good reasons she has been invited. Firstly, one of the reasons Carrum Downs House Concerts was started was to give new and up and coming artists exposure to audiences who come to listen to original music from artists they may not have seen before. We are always on the lookout for artists who we see could have a great success in the Country Music scene. We saw Misty in a writers in the round event in Tamworth two years ago and were so impressed with her talent that she was invited to play here. She is a wonderful songwriter has a beautiful voice, and is great guitarist, and has an 'aura' that surrounds her that captures the audiences attention. It is not surprising that Misty's carreer is progressing rapidly. Like Kris and Greg she has a love of folk music but her style has progressed into the broader Americana sector of Country Music. Misty has been invited to play at many music festivals and supported some well known artists such as Jim Lauderdale (U.S),  Mick Thomas, Ella Hooper and the Davidson Brothers. Misty is an artist you will love and we are pleased she can join us here.                                                                                                                                                                                 

As you can see from what we have written about thes three artists, there is a  similarity in their backgrounds, a love of Folk music. Folk music has been the creative source of many other styles of music since songwriters picked up a pen and tried to put their feelings into words and added music, It is the essence of storytelling, which is why these three artists have been invited to perform here, please join us for an experience we hope you will not  forget.

VENUE and TIMES

CARRUM DOWNS HOUSE CONCERTS is in a street level unit in a unit complex.( third unit on left) The address will be on your ticket. Carrum Downs is easily accessible from either the Eastlink or Monash freeways and there is good street parking available. Our Music Room (lounge) is a large room which can seat 40 people. It has ducted heating, air conditioning and air purifiers. There is a large covered outdoor area with seating. Your ticket includes BBQ lunch which includes gourmet sausages, salads and fruit, coffee and tea, and water. Gluten free is available. You are welcome to bring other beverages along,

TIMES;   Arrive at 1pm for lunch. Music is in two sessions: 2pm to 3pm, then a break for afternoon tea - coffee tea, cake and biscuits. The second music session is 3pm to 4pm   The artists will have cd's and other merchandise available.    All funds from ticket sales go to the artists
