FRANCISCUS: Celebrating 800 Years of St Francis
About
The Capuchin Franciscan Friars are hosting a 2-day Conference to celebrate this Jubilee Year of St Francis of Assisi; to reflect upon and share about the amazing life and enduring legacy of this great saint.Each day will commence with registration at 8:30am and a 9am talk; each day concluding at 5pm. Across the 2 days, there will be six talks, a workshop, a Q&A Panel, as well as daily Mass and concluding each day with Evening Prayer. A light lunch will be provided, as well as morning and afternoon tea.
Our speakers are Capuchin Friars from friaries in both Sydney and Melbourne:
Talk 1: "Hold back nothing of yourselves": St Francis and the Holy Eucharist.
Speaker: Father Robert Stewart OFM Cap, Provincial Minister of the Australian Capuchin Province
Talk 2: "Blessed be the Poor in a World of Self-Importance"
Speaker: Rev Dr Benjamin Johnson OFM Cap
Talk 3: "Prayer as an instrument to authentic encounters in the life of St Francis"
Speaker: Father Lam Vu OFM Cap:
Talk 4: “I, little brother Francis, your servant”: Minority at the heart of St Francis’ way of life.
Speaker: Father Thomas McFadden OFM Cap
Talk 5: St Francis’s “Canticle of the Creatures”
Speaker: Father Matthew Timonera OFM Cap
Talk 6: The Human Condition of Saint Francis: "But we can boast in our weaknesses and in carrying each day the holy cross of our Lord Jesus Christ"
Speaker: Father Gary Devery OFM Cap, Vicar Provincial
The event has no registration fee but there will be the opportunity to donate/contribute at the Conference in order to support the running of the event.
