Join the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra for Wonders of Home & Country: an evocative program of music celebrating landscape, nostalgia, folklore, and national spirit.
From the rustic charm of Percy Grainger’s Mock Morris and the sweeping lyricism of Grieg’s beloved Piano Concerto in A minor, featuring acclaimed soloist Elysia Li, to the familiar warmth of Waltzing Matilda and the grandeur of Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Song Suite, this concert journeys through the musical heartlands of England, Norway, Russia, Austria, and Australia.
Audiences will also experience the contemporary Australian work Australia – Land of Wonders by Philip Faddoul, alongside timeless favourites including Shostakovich’s dazzling Jazz Waltz No. 2, Grieg’s serene Morning Mood, and the sparkling energy of Strauss’ Frühlingsstimmen Waltz.
Rich with melody, storytelling, and orchestral colour, Wonders of Home & Country promises an uplifting afternoon of music that feels both deeply personal and joyfully celebratory.
