
OVA Workforce Training: CPI Safety Intervention Foundation
Dear participant,
Thank you for registering for Occupational Violence and Agression (OVA) Workforce training - CPI Safety Intervention (TM) Foundation - Blended mode. The programme has an online learning component and a practical skills component.
*Please note: You MUST COMPLETE the online module BEFORE attending your practical session. It takes approximately 3 hours to complete.
Details provided for this booking will be used to send you the login details to CPI online learning portal. Please choose one of the available dates.
After booking, your request will be processed and you will:
- Receive a confirmation email from CPI to grant you access to your online training and
- A Participant Workbook for classroom training (provided on arrival).
- CPI Blue Card® certification: Upon completion of the online and practical skills training.

Module 1: Understanding Behaviour and Its Risk
Module 2: The CPI Crisis Development Model (SM)
Module 3: Integrated Experience
Module 4: Supportive Communication Skills
Module 5: Responding to Defensive Behaviours
Module 6: Safety Interventions
Module 7: Post-crisis
Intervention Skills
Safety Intervention 1: Disengagement skills
Safety Intervention 2: Holding skills
- Online Learning:
The online experience introduces the basic concepts of Safety Intervention Training using examples and scenarios. You will learn how to dissect a crisis moment and apply the recommended intervention technique. Engaging video-based case scenarios present and explain the Crisis Development Model℠ and Verbal Escalation Continuum℠.
- Face-to-face classroom training:
With the foundational knowledge of Safety Intervention® already in place, you will attend a session to learn more about applying the models and techniques learned and practice those skills in the classroom.
