We're thrilled to bring back our Read the Prizes Book Club. These are smaller, standalone book clubs where we read and discuss the year's major prize winners.We're kicking things off with the winner of the Stella Prize for 2026, announced just last night: CANNON by Lee Lai. This is the first time a graphic novel has won the prestigious prize; it's a funny, dark, and emotionally turbulent slice of friendship strife.
As the judges note: Lai’s elegant artistry evokes horror and poignancy, shock and delight, and Cannon is an incontestable reminder that the very best graphic novels can do what prose alone cannot.
Tickets are $50 and include a copy of Cannon (RRP $39.95) available to collect in-store after booking. There will be complimentary wine, tea and nibbles on the evening. We're excited to a book outside of our typical genre and hope you will join us!
