About

Dementia in the Dark: The importance of sleep for brain health and Strategies for Supporting Sleep and Nighttime Safety

For many living with dementia and their caregiver, the setting sun marks the beginning of a difficult "second shift." Sleep isn't just about rest; it is a vital biological process linked to cognitive decline. Up to half of all people living with dementia experience significant sleep disruptions, leading to increased confusion, getting up often through the night, and exhaustion for all.

Join us for an insightful webinar that sheds light on Dementia in the Dark. We will explore the latest research connecting sleep quality to brain resilience and provide lots of practical strategies to promote a safer, more restful night and to support the long-term brain health of those in your care, as well as for yourself.

Don't just survive the night—transform it.

Learning Outcomes:
- Explain the biological link between sleep and brain health
- Understand that better sleep is a protective factor against dementia
- Identify common sleep disturbances in people living with dementia
- Implement evidence-based sleep hygiene strategies and non-pharmacological techniques
- Design a dementia-friendly nighttime environment
