Event overview: 

Are you an early career or aspiring freelancer? We're holding a workshop to build your skills and confidence in setting up and running a freelance business. 

Whether you're a creative looking to freelance, or wanting to explore other freelance offerings like workshop facilitation or pet sitting, this session will set you up with foundational skills in business setup, time and money management, marketing and more. 

Wanting to learn more about finding clients and navigating these relationships as a freelancer? Join us for our second freelance workshop on Saturday 1 August 2026. 
 

Workshop details:

🗓️ Date: Saturday 20 June 2026

📍 Location: Brimbank Community and Civic Centre - 301 Hampshire Road, Sunshine 

⏰ Time: 11am - 1pm 

💲 Tickets are $10 per attendee. Please contact us if you are experiencing financial hardship. 

🖐️ Register by Friday 19 June, 4pm via the link. 

* Please note that limited places are available. Priority will be given to young people aged 15-30 who live, work, study or socialise in Brimbank. 
 

What to expect:

This fun and practical workshop, facilitated by Creative Plus Business, will cover the following topics: 

• Setting up the freelance business properly, including registrations and ABNs.
• Getting ready to make (and spend) the money, using best practice and tech.
• Understanding how insurance works for freelancers (boring but necessary!)
• Making the deal legal and using MOUs and agreements as protection.
• Preparing for marketing, self-promotion and relationship building.
