Multicultural Families Group Meeting
About
Dear Families,We would like to invite you to the second Multicultural Families Group meeting for 2026 which will take place at Woodville High School on Tuesday 9 June 2026 from 4.45pm - 6.00pm in the Learning Hub.
The focus of the Term 2 meeting will be a Careers & Pathways Focus presented by our VET/Careers Coordintor Mr Michael Grant. A Careers and VET focus within the evening is particularly beneficial as it provides families with valuable information about future pathways, employment opportunities, apprenticeships, vocational training, and post-school options available to students. This helps families better understand the Australian education and training system, enabling them to more confidently support their child’s aspirations and informed decision-making about their future.
A Multicultural Parent Evening at Woodville High School provides an opportunity to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of our school community while strengthening partnerships between families, students, and staff. The evening aims to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where families can share their cultures, traditions, languages, and experiences, fostering a greater sense of belonging and mutual respect. It also supports meaningful communication and collaboration between home and school, ensuring all families feel valued, connected, and empowered to engage in their child’s education. Our Woodville takes pride in this with our students coming from over 96 different cultures.
Our responsibility as a school is to provide support and information to all of our families. We have formed a number of different Multicultural Families Groups so that we can give our parents/caregivers from different cultural groups an opportunity to communicate, share information, and to have a voice in some of the school’s decision-making processes.
The education of our students is a partnership between families and school and this is strengthened through participation in the evening. As research shows young people’s wellbeing and capacity to achieve their potential are increased when families, schools and communities work together in productive partnerships.
This meeting is an opportunity for the school and our families and communities to build a strong partnership and to work together to support the learning and wellbeing of students.
We look forward to welcoming and working with you at Our Woodville. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Milena Popov at the school on 8445 9833.
