2027 ATAR English as Additional Language Information
About
Dear Year 10 Parents & Students,You are invited to attend an additional briefing session on English ATAR pathways as students prepare for Years 11 and 12.
At this session, we will outline the three English ATAR options available and support you in choosing the most appropriate pathway. Based on our review, your child may benefit from selecting ATAR English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD).
The EALD ATAR course is an academic pathway designed for multilingual students intending to pursue university study in Australia. It focuses on developing academic language skills, including the structure and features of Standard Australian English, across a range of text types. These skills support success across all ATAR subjects.
A key feature of the course is the completion of an academic investigation, which helps students build research skills, independence and readiness for tertiary study.
This session will:
• Explain eligibility requirements and the selection process
• Provide an overview of the course
• Introduce key staff who will support students in Years 11 and 12
We strongly encourage all invited families to attend to ensure students are well placed to choose the pathway that best supports their academic success and university aspirations.
