Turnip Sundae brings together the talents and friendship of three been-around-the-traps- forever musicians: spectacular cellist- Rita Woolhouse, fancy 12 string guitarist- Fred Pilcher and creative Simone Dawson on flute and tenor guitar (not at the same time). Playing some of Fred’s favourite songs, Simone’s original material and Rita’s funky tunes, the Turnips blend vocals, instruments and rhythms to create a perfect contemporary sound. So turn up to hear Turnip Sundae – an underground “folk & roots” sensation!
Daisy Chain - Growing up within the embrace of the Merry Muse Daisy Chain delivers poetic, heartfelt songs about identity, connection and the state of the world. Combining harmonies reminiscent of the Seekers and grooves in the folk-rock spirit of Jenny Morris. Daisy Chain takes the vibe of sixties storytelling folk-rock and modernises it with the stories of today.
Daisy Chain started with three songs on the Merry Muse blackboard in May 2023. One year later the Merry Muse had challenged them to perform a full set! By the end of 2024 they had also performed at the Quinty Folk Festival, in the Merry Muse Morning at Major’s Creek Folk Festival and had released an album ‘Playin with the band!’. This year they have performed at ‘It Takes a Village’ and are delighted to be back on the Merry Muse stage with a range of new material.
At the heart of Daisy Chain is singer-songwriter Jo Evans, whose career in environmental policy—focused on climate change—deeply informs her songwriting. Inspired by the Buddhist philosophy of Thich Nhat Hanh and deep ecology thinkers such as Joanna Macy, John Seed, and Pat Fleming, Jo creates music that reflects on today’s world honestly while offering hope, connection and acceptance.
Daisy Chain wants to support the local and Australian music industry. Their debut album (out now) was recorded with Lake City Recording (Canberra) and their music is released through GYRO Stream (Australia).
