Workshop: Creating Universal Design for Learning Lessons
About
Join ECU's School of Education and visiting scholar Mr Bill Wilmot for an interactive professional learning workshop focused on applying Universal Design for Learning (UDL) in real classroom contexts.
This 2-hour workshop will build your understanding of UDL and support you to make small, high-impact design choices that improve access, engagement, and success for all students. You’ll explore the theory behind UDL, unpack its core principles, and, most importantly, gain practical experience applying UDL strategies to your own lesson and curriculum design.
In this workshop, you will:
- Develop a deeper understanding of student barriers and learn how thoughtful design can remove them.
- Adopt a practical, proactive approach to inclusion, recognising UDL as an iterative, forward-thinking framework that supports multiple pathways to success.
- Gain ready-to-use design strategies to create more flexible and accessible learning experiences.
- Enhance student wellbeing and engagement through structured choice and inclusive practices that build motivation and self-regulation.
Registration fee $100 (inc GST) includes afternoon tea, workbook, and reading materials.
Registration and light refreshments will be available from 3:30pm; the workshop will start at 4:00pm.
Certificates of Participation will be provided to all attendees. Participants may use these hours to contribute towards their professional learning requirements with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia. For information about upcoming Professional Learning opportunities, be sure to follow the ECU School of Education LinkedIn page.
