Please join us in celebrating the life of WO2 Lachlan Muddle. Lachlan enlisted into the Australian Army on 26 Jul 94. He served with 3 RAR, 1 RTB, SASR, ADFPS and SOI. It is with sadness and respect that the Australian Defence Force will conduct a funeral service for the late WO2 Muddle, who passed away on 11 May 26. The funeral service will be conducted at the Holsworthy Barracks Chapel on 29 May 26, commencing at 1100. The proceedings will be followed by a wake at the North Bondio RSL where all are invited to share in the memory of our beloved friend and serviceman.Unfortunately the service will not be live streamed due to the security requirements for a military funeral of this nature. A Defence media team will record the funeral and provide a link to a preview of the recording on the day, and an extended format of the recording no later than the 5th of June, 2026.
Defence members holding a current DCAC do NOT need to book a ticket in order to attend.
Please see the below requirements to allow base access to civilians on the day of the service:
- Civilian attendees are required to book their attendance via TryBooking.
- You must bring a valid form of Australian ID. Images and scans of ID will not be accepted.
- The booking name must be the same as the physical ID provided.
- There must be a single booking per person. EG: Do not book four tickets under a single persons name.
- Children under 18 do not require physical ID but still require a booking.
- Your booking, name and ID will be checked by base security before gaining access to the barracks.
- Any discrepancies may result in delayed or denied entry.
Note: Event bookings will close 1:00pm on 28 May 26. For requests to attend after this date, please contact the event organiser.
The entry points to Holsworthy Barracks will be the main gate off Heathcote Road which provides vehicle access for DCAC holders and pedestrian access for everyone. The alternate entry point will be via the Holsworthy train station gate which is pedestrian access only.
Parking.
- Parking for civilian vehicles will be available at the Heathcote Road front gate (~100 spaces) and the Liverpool Train Station (multistory facility).
- Parking for DCAC holders will be available on Holsworthy Barracks under the guidance of military police and contractor staff.
- Civilians travelling in a vehicle with a DCAC holder will be permitted to park on base.
Additional Timings.
- 9:30am: Gates open to civilians who have booked a ticket for the service.
- 10:45am: Gates closed to all vehicles but pedestrian access will remain open.
- 11:00am: Service commence.
