Join us for a special dark sky event as Kamilaroi astrophysicist Krystal De Napoli and cultural astronomer Duane Hamacher take us on a journey through space and time, showcasing the importance of the Moon and stars to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and how we all connect to the cosmos through the beauty of night.Krystal De Napoli is an astrophysicist, co-author of the award-winning book 'Astronomy: Sky Country', and Manager of the WEHI DeadlyScience Pathways Program.
Duane Hamacher is Associate Professor of Astrophysics and Director of The Burunh Program for Cultural & Indigenous Astronomy at the University of Melbourne, as well as author of the best-selling book 'The First Astronomers', coauthored with six Elders and Sky Country knowledge holders.
This event will first major event of The Burunh Program, welcoming Krystal as a new staff member in the School of Physics, at the University of Melbourne.
6:30-7:00 - Tea and Welcome
7:00-8:00 - Sky Country Presentation by Krystal De Napali and Duane Hamacher
8:00-9:30 - Telescope viewing and book signing.
