This hybrid printmaking workshop encourages students to break free from traditional constraints and explore the interplay of combining various printing methods to create their image.
The hybrid printing workshop redefines the boundaries of printmaking placing emphasis on experimentation and the beauty of imperfection.
Day 1
Dr Yvonne Rees-Pagh will demonstrate the multiuse of materials, graduated ink roll backgrounds, re used silk screens, Collagraph plates, found materials and expressive painting techniques. The combinations of are endless and will unlock a world of creative potential for the student.
Day 2
The students start to experiment printing with their found materials, old silk screens and relief and intaglio plates. Learning to create graduated ink rolled backgrounds. Making shapes from off cuts of thick paper which can be textured using gesso, impasto paste, carborundum. These will be used as off-set shapes as part of the layering process in creating the image.
Day 3
Final printing of the hybrid prints.

Shana James: Black and White Linocut with Chine Colle Saturday 27th June 9.30am-2.30pm

Shana James is a WA printmaker and expert in linocut techniques. Learn about adapting your drawing for linocut, mark making, inking and printing by hand and with a press discover how to colour you own washi paper for chin collé an interesting way to add colour.
Bring your own linocut tools or buy a set of 3 Japanese tools from Shana for $22, bring your drawing and /or ideas. If you don't have any ideas Shana will bring still life subject matter.
Francesco Geronazzo: 2 Day Creative Mindset Workshop. 10.00am - 4.00pm each day. Friday 10th and Saturday 11th July 2026

This immersive workshop lends traditional and experimental techniques to encourage creative risk taking and unique outcomes. Professional printmaker, Francesco Geronazzo will guide you through the intersection of traditional tachniques and experimental processes to create one of a kind outcomes. Particpants will investigate material transformation, surface development and intuitive making through both structured and open-ended approaches.
Across the two days, students will journey between established methods and experimental interventions encouraging unexpected results, layered narratives, and highly individual works.
demonstrations, process-led exercises and guided experimetation will support participants in developing unique state works that embrace variation, risk and discovery.
Designed for artist, makers and curious practitioners interested in pushing material boundaries while remaining connected to traditional foundations.
All materials provided. Just bring drawing ideas, your visual diary etc.
Dallas Perry: Drypoint and multi colour application Saturday 8th August 2026 10.00am-3.00pm

In this workshop you will explore the basic principles of creating dry point prints using a heavy weight acetate. The method is quick, easy to achieve good results and a way to really ignite your ideas into print, whether it be an edition or a range of colourful variables. Simply trace elements from your own photographs or create something that is just an array of expressive marks.
We will learn about a variety of wiping techniques and how to apply multiple colours to the print, and explore layering.
Your facilitator Dallas loves to play. While we start with the fundamentals of how to achieve a clean print, we will then launch into the world of play with colour and mark making with ink.
Vanessa Wallace: One Day Artists Books and simple binding techniques Workshop 10.00am-3.00pm Sunday 19th July
Cost $85 members/$100 non members, max 8 places, suitable for all levels 18yrs+
In this workshop, particpants will use a veriety of book papers to make an artist' book/journal. Drawing on a variety of simple binding techniques the book may incorporate concertina and folded elements along with stitch. Participants are encouraged to bring a small selection of specialty papers (tissue, handmade paper etc) and their own drawings or prints to incorporate into their book. Please note: this is not essential as there will be materials available at the Workshop.
Vanessa Wallace's art practice in predominantly print based with book making forming a central component, through the construction of artist's books and zine and the series-based nature of each new colleciton of prints.
