Customising TIS Commodes for Neurological Conditions

Unicare Health Seminar : Defining Pressure Care Excellence

WEBINAR

Supporting individuals with neurological conditions during personal care requires thoughtful, individualised clinical decision-making. This webinar will help clinicians strengthen their confidence in prescribing and customising tilt-in-space shower commodes to improve comfort, dignity, safety, and participation in everyday care routines.

Participants will explore how accessories and body support systems can be used to support individuals experiencing symptoms such as tremors, spasms, postural instability, fatigue, and seizures across conditions including MS, Parkinson’s Disease, and MND. Through practical clinical considerations, attendees will gain strategies to better tailor commode solutions to individual needs, functional capacity, and caregiver requirements.

Attendees will leave with practical knowledge they can immediately apply to deliver safer, more comfortable, and more person-centred personal care outcomes.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and evaluate the specific care needs of individuals with neurological conditions (e.g., MS, Parkinson’s Disease, MND) in the context of shower commode prescription.
  • Learn how to customise commodes to align with individual needs and functional capacities.
  • Explore the use of accessories and body support systems that help address neurological symptoms and enhance safety and function during personal care tasks.

This session is recommended for Occupational Therapists, Senior Occupational Therapists, and other healthcare professionals working with individuals with neurological conditions who are looking to strengthen their confidence in prescribing and customising commodes.
