Creative Childhoods Summit - Safeguarding in Performing Arts
About
The Creative Childhoods Summit is the inaugural flagship event presented by Dance Arts Alliance Australia - bringing together leaders, educators and changemakers committed to shaping a safer, healthier future for children and young people in Dance & Performing Arts. This is a unique opportunity for our industry to come together, learn from one another, and strengthen the way we support children and young people!As expectations around child safety, wellbeing and ethical practice continue to evolve, many business owners and educators are asking the same questions:
What does best practice actually look like?
How do we create environments where children truly feel safe, respected, included and able to thrive?
The Creative Childhoods Summit has been designed to answer those questions.
Through inspiring keynote presentations, expert panels, practical workshops and honest conversation, you'll hear from leading voices in dance and performing arts education, child safeguarding, child development, psychology, education and government as they share evidence-based insights, practical strategies and real-world solutions.
Whether you're a business owner, teacher, leader or emerging educator (18+), you'll leave with greater clarity, confidence and practical tools to strengthen your leadership and create meaningful impact within your organisation.
Throughout the day we will explore:
• Child safeguarding in practice - moving beyond compliance to create genuinely child-safe cultures;
• Healthy dance practice and child development through the lens of physical, emotional and psychological wellbeing;
• Digital safety, online representation and the evolving responsibilities of educators;
• Current research, emerging trends and national best practice shaping the future of Dance & Performing Arts education;
• Practical application of the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations within studios, classrooms, rehearsals and performance environments;
• Real conversations with experts and industry leaders navigating today's challenges;
• Opportunities to connect with like-minded professionals who believe childhood comes first.
This is a day to learn, reflect, ask questions, challenge thinking, share ideas and connect with others who are passionate about creating environments where young people can flourish.
Together, we have the opportunity to strengthen leadership, build healthier cultures, and establish a shared vision for what safe, ethical and child-centred Dance & Performing Arts education can look like across Australia.
If you believe every child deserves an environment where they feel safe, valued and empowered to reach their potential, we invite you to join us!
