Liturgy under the Southern Cross
You are invited to join for the biennial conference of the Australian Academy of Liturgy. We will be gathering at Mary MacKillop Place, Sydney, 28-30 September 2026.
The conference explores Liturgy under the Southern Cross. This is planned to be the standing title for a series of AAL conferences that prioritises discussion of contextually-grounded liturgy in the southern hemisphere. The conference offers space to reflect on broad themes about place, time, culture, social relationships, and pressing questions of faith and spirituality as they are experienced in liturgy in the southern hemisphere.
Practitioners, makers, and scholars of liturgy are invited to contribute to the discussion through paper forums or workshop proposals. The conference committee is open to specific proposals about the Eucharist, ecumenical worship, contextual liturgy, and liturgy within academic formation.
Call for Papers
Paper and workshop proposals are being received until Friday 11 September 2026.
Papers will be 20min and workshops will be 60min each. Papers are expected to be in a traditional academic presentation format. An abstract of up to 150 words
A short biographical statement up to 100 words
Note of any institutional affiliation
Proposals should be emailed to michelle.eastwood@alc.edu.au.
